Blackamoor is bettamoor.
Scanned from a National Geographic Magazine from the late 1970’s. I remember this image intensely. I’ve been searching for it on the internet for years. I just found it. “Blackamoors” such as this were a favorite artistic device in the Baroque era, whether sculpted or painted. This lavish example was created in Dresden, I believe. The body is ebony accentuated with solid gold jewelry and precious gems. The Blackamoor carries a platter of raw emeralds. SUPERB !
